CHAMPION ANIMALS EXHIBITION: March 25 - April 16 21st January 2010

At last I can give details of my next exhibition! I have been working on it almost exclusively for the last two years.

"CHAMPION ANIMALS" will be held at the Sladmore Contemporary Gallery, 32 Bruton Place, off Berkeley Sq. London W1
The private view will be on Wednesday March 24th; the exhibition will run from March 25th until April 16th - call Sladmore Contemporary on: 020 7499 0365 for further details, or to order a catalogue.

There are photographs of all the pieces in the exhibition on my Gallery pages under, "Champion Animals".

The works depict champion examples of many of our domestic breeds, Cattle, Horses, Pigs Sheep and Dogs and are inspired by an exhibition of the same name, sculpted over 80 years ago by Herbert Haseltine.
Our domestic animals have changed so much during the intervening years; many that were common during Haseltine's time are now rare breeds, others have thrived - changing almost beyond recognition. Haseltine ducumented champion examples of various breeds during the 1920's. I was inspired by these works to attempt to capture portraits in bronze of todays champions both as a celebration and a lasting record of these magnificent beasts, just as Haseltine did before me.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! 21st December 2009

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

2010 should be a big year for me, with the opening of my latest exhibition - Champion Animals [I will go into more detail in the new year].
The private view is scheduled for March 24th; opening to the public on March 25th and running until April 16th, at Sladmore Contemporary, 32 Bruton Place, off Berkeley Square, London.

All the sculptures are finished, and final preparations are well under way, so I'm taking a few days off to enjoy Christmas with my friends and family.

NEW WOODCOCK & EXHIBITION UPDATE 20th June 2009

At last! I've had time to sculpt a replacement for my first, much loved Woodcock, which sold out some time ago.
The new piece is imaginatively titled, 'WOODCOCK II".
I don't believe in fancy titles - I prefer the work to do the talking [or not - take a look and see what you think].
Anyway, hope you like it!

OTHER NEWS:
Work on my forthcoming one man show, at the Sladmore Contemporary Gallery in Bruton Place next year, goes on apace.
I only have three subjects left to sculpt to complete the body of work. They are proving to be some of the most challenging and exciting subjects I have ever sculpted.
Expect dates and a sneak preview of some of the work soon.

November News 11th November 2008

Well, America has a new president,  Iceland no longer exists [in a monetary sense] and the media would have us believe that everyone, with the exception of Damien Hirst, are financially doomed. Apart from that....

I've completed another sculpture for my next exhibition [gallery, date and pieces still secret at this stage I'm afraid].

The new Robin is still scheduled to be available by December.

Oh, and I've uploaded some new photos of the Goshawk to the gallery.

NEW BRONZE SCULPTURE 15th September 2008

I've just delivered the wax original for my next bronze - ROBIN II [I don't go in for fancy titles] to Pangolin Editions Foundry.
I've wanted to sculpt this subject for a while. remembering seeing one of our local robins, on a crisp February morning, perched in a hazel, surrounded by catkins, all fluffed up against the cold.
The finished bronze will be mounted onto a circular bronze base like my previous Robin, which has now sold out and will have a similar colouration to that piece..
There are photos of the wax original in the Gallery, under: NEW WORK.
Casts should be available in time for this Christmas.

September Update 4th September 2008

Well, this month I'm in the studio, working on a new collection of sculptures, for a one man exhibition to be held at a VERY prestigious London Gallery - More details soon, but it's going to be big!
I am also sculpting a new bird bronze, which should be available by November 08.
Cheers,
Nick.
